Abstract: Confluences act as critical nodes in a river network as they affect water-sediment transport, material mixing process, and ecological patterns in the upper and lower reaches. The knowledge about hydro-morpho-sedimentary processes at mega river confluences is still incomplete, which limits the clear understanding of the material mixing process and the distribution pattern of aquatic communities around the confluence (Yuan et al., 2023). The aim of the present study is to comprehensively understand the flow structure, bed morphology, material mixing patterns, and fish assemblage traits at mega river confluence, and to clarify the effects of hydrodynamics on aquatic ecological environment, improving the understanding of mega river hydrodynamics and providing the theoretical foundation for the conservation and management of the aquatic environment at the confluence and in the whole river ecosystem.
