Abstract: Field measurements are essential for coastal resource management, protection, validating numerical models and conducting studies related to the climate crisis and associated changes to coastal processes and coastal engineering infrastructure. Such measurements are becoming increasingly important to quantify spatial variability of the impact of short-crested waves on the sedimentary seabed. In Ristolainen et al. (2016) and Ristolainen (2019), a cost-effective device, equipped with a 3D Hall-effect sensor, called a Hydromast, is introduced for high resolution water flow speed and direction estimation.
