Abstract: Following the EU external energy policy strategy the Portuguese ports are committed with the EU’s plan for a green transition – the EU Fit for 55 shipping package and the REPowerEU. This paper will focus on the strategy of APS – Port Authority of Sines and Algarve SA, regarding energy transition. APS has the main port in Portugal located in Sines and two others business units, the commercial port of Faro and the commercial port of Portimao, with cruise ship activity. APS aims to have its ports 100% carbon emissions free by 2045, ahead of green deal 2050 goals, and striving for energy self-sufficiency.
