Abstract: Ports have a key role to play in the energy transition process, as they are important hubs in logistics chains and support 90% of the world's maritime freight traffic. As the high level of greenhouse gas emissions associated with transport, such as maritime, road, and rail, is a major concern, a study was carried out to quantify the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with the different modes of transport to/from the Port of Aveiro and the Port of Figueira da Foz. To pave the way towards a greener mobility it was propose a Port Mobility Decarbonisation Plan to these small and medium- size ports, based on alternative strategies, namely the use of alternative fuels, electrification and intermodality.
