Abstract: In order to manage the river water use properly, it is necessary to collect reliable data of river water usage. However, in Korea, it is not easy to get water use data by measurement due to political and economic difficulties.
So, to determine the amount of river water usage, indirect measurement methods such as use of pumping operation time or gate operation instead of direct measurement, and this is done by voluntary reporting of users.
To solve these problems, test-bed to analyze applicability of the various types of equipment to measure water use such as V-ADCP is operating between Gosan and Bongdong station in Mankyung river, where the portion of agricultural water use is larger than river flow.
In general, velocity profile method is widely used to calculate discharge from measured velocity profile by fix-mounted V-ADCP. In this study, in order to evaluate applicability of the method using measured velocity in channel for agricultural water intake by V-ADCP, the parameter sensitivity of Chiu's 2D velocity distribution equation was analyzed and the optimal parameters based on actual discharge data were calculated. In addition, the result from velocity profile method was compared with results by H-Q rating curve and the index velocity method.
