Abstract: Due to deep-thick water cushion (93.5~120.04m) at dam downstream and good base rock lithology of bottom plate of plunge pool (scouring-resistant flow velocity of 8.0~10.0m/s), the plunge pool adopts the scheme of bank protected and bottom plate unprotected in Wudongde hydropower station. Because the bottom plate of plunge pool is constituted by base rock, free flow passages exist between the bottom plate and side slope mountain, so side slopes adopt water permeable plate design. The stability of water permeable plates of side slopes becomes the main restrictive factor for safe operation of plunge pool. By 1:50 hydraulics integral model of Wudongde hydropower station, with plate simulation according to geometric similarity and weight similarity, the related hydraulic parameters such as time averaged pressure and pulsating pressure on plate, water surface fluctuation along plunge pool etc. were measured in the different water permeable conditions. It is the first time to adopt the superposition method of transient pressure process line to point-plane convert pulsating pressure on plate, compares and analyzes pulsating pressure property in the conditions of only permeable hole filtering and joint filtering of permeable hole and slot between plates. The research results indicate that water permeable hole arrangement can reduce pulsating pressure value on water attaining surface of plate, pulsating pressure decays in some extent when it transmits from water attaining surface to dorsal surface of plate. The maximum hydrodynamic load appears in wall attachment jet zone of plunge pool in the condition of joint filtering.
