Abstract: With a set of polynomial approximations a possibility is shown of the use of an induced voltage electromagnetic flowmeter in the area of measuring cocurrent two-phase downflow in tubes. The principle of the meter operation remains hereby unchanged; due to the fluid flow through the meter magnetic field, the movement of electric charges induces the electric field and electrodes sense the difference of electric potentials on two separated points as an induced voltage. The flow is hereby considered as a two-phase one also in terms of electric conductivity since it consists of the electric conductive liquid phase and electrically non-conductive gas phase. Dependence of the output signal of the electromagnetic flowmeter on the volumetric quality and the total gas-liquid volumetric flow is experimentally confirmed through the master-slave method at a measuring air-water system-testing site.
