Abstract: This study tried to find out the cause of recent vegetation abundance in the rivers of South Korea. The results from analyzing historical rainfall and water level records indicate that the increase of vegetation should be related to the decrease of rainfall from May to June. Drawdown during growing season caused by the deficit of rainfall would encourage for seeds to settle down and sprout. It is necessary to find various factors affecting vegetation growth in a river through further studies.
