Abstract: The coastal area of Hai Hau district has a 30 km-long shoreline extending from north to south, which is facing serious erosion for a long time. The area is a depositional land being part of the Red River Delta, Balat estuary at the north and Ninh Co and Song Dai rivers at the south. From the beginning of 20th century, erosion became prominent and huge efforts have been put in the last 50 years to prevent and ease coastal retreat. In this study, recent trends of erosion have been analyzed by remote sensing data analysis and One-line numerical modeling, and coastal evolution process in the past is discussed from literature review.
