About
The foundation of the University of Naples Federico II dates back to the Swabian Emperor’s generalis lictera of 5 June 1224. The University has 4 schools and 26 departments. The Schools are divided into the School of Medicine and Surgery, the School of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, the School of Human and Social Sciences and the Polytechnic School and Basic Sciences, and include 13 subject areas divided into Agriculture, Architecture, Economics, Pharmacy, Law, Engineering, Medicine and Surgery, Veterinary Medicine, Biotechnological Sciences, MM.FF.NN. Sciences, Political Sciences, Sociology, and the Humanities. The University also has 52 Research and Service Centers and 2 Botanical Gardens. The University has 108 libraries. Currently, our academic offering includes 160-degree courses, 48 University Masters, 38 Research Doctorates, 15 Specialization Schools and 15 Postgraduate Courses and the International School of Higher Education and Research Southern High School (SSM). The University also boasts a number of prestigious museums. Since 2004, the University has been training students with the F2RadioLab radio laboratory, a communication and orientation tool for the student community.
