« Back to list of video collections

As one of the most destructive natural disasters causing major casualties, flash floods have gained more attention across the world. In an effort to optimize risk management strategies of flash floods globally; upgrade flash flood prevention and control system; explore disaster prevention approaches; enhance disaster prevention capacity; and promote disaster prevention and mitigation at different levels (from state to community), China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research (IWHR) and Université Côte d’Azur (UCA) have jointly initiated the Flash Flood Program (FFP), and announced its official launch on October 29, 2020.

FFP2 is the second seminar of the program, aiming to analyze the characteristics of occurrence and development of flash floods in different countries and regions. By exchanging global understanding and interpretation of flash floods, the seminar may help public and flash floods managers acquire more knowledge of the disaster itself, and finally develop a consensus on flash flood definition in affected countries and regions across the globe.
