IAHR Scandinavia Young Professionals Network

About us

The Scandinavia Young Professionals Network (YPN) is a subsection of the International Association of Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR) that encourages collaboration among young professionals from, but not limited to, the Nordic region with an interest in the fields and topics promoted by IAHR.

The IAHR Scandinavia YPN aims at strengthening the linkages between academia and industry and helping to develop key professional skills for young professionals as well as encouraging other YPNs to follow the example. Local companies and organisations who work with industry will be invited to join. The Scandinavia YPN also aims at creating an inclusive environment to share expertise and providing an increased understanding of how academia and industry work.

To achieve such aims, the Scandinavia YPN will foster activities which bring together young professionals in consulting firms, research institutions, industries, and other organisations interested in sharing knowledge in the field of hydro-environment engineering. The Scandinavia YPN will organise research seminars, workshops, and field trips to local projects and infrastructure of interest, promote collaborative activities with other YPNs, and put efforts into disseminating knowledge and research activities through its website, social networking sites, and at conferences. Moreover, the Scandinavia YPN will be a niche for social networking events for researchers in academia and practicing engineers. Furthermore, the Scandinavia YPN will initiate fundraising campaigns for member participation in IAHR congresses and symposia. Lastly, liaison with other YPNs will ensure rich and productive coordination of actions.
