About
Sergio Andrés was born in Colombia. He is a Civil Engineer from Universidad Industrial de Santander (Colombia, 2005). He obtained his Specialist Degree in Water Resources Systems Analysis from Universitat Politècnica de València (2006). He received his Master Degree in Sustainable Water Engineering from Universidad de Sevilla (2010). He has a Ph.D Degree (Cum Laude qualification) in Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering from Universitat Politècnica de València (2013). His PhD thesis was related with a methodology for flood risk analysis and flood risk reduction applied in the Rambla del Poyo (Valencia, Spain). Through his association with the Water and Environmental Research Institute and the Research Group of Hydrological and Environmental Modelling (GIMHA), he has participated in several research projects where he assumed several tasks in topics regarding mainly with catchment hydrology and flood risk management. Additionally, he has enjoyed substantial scientific internships at the Hydraulic Research Centre of the Instituto Superior Politécnico José Antonio Echeverría (Cuba) and at the Institute of Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources Management of the Vienna University of Technology. As specific courses of specialties carried out, the following can be mentioned: Environmental impact assessment, geographical information systems, remote sensing applications for water resources management. From 2014 to 2018, he worked as Advisor at the colombian Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development. From 2016 to 2020 he was Adjunct professor (part-time) at National University of Colombia. Currently, he is a posdoctoral researcher in the Hydraulics and Hydrology Research Area of the Research Institute of Water and Environmental Engineering (IIAMA), in the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia.
