About
Gijs is a passionate river engineer, with a keen interest in the diverse range of factors affecting river behavior and the impact of these rivers on its environment, including social and physical elements, both upstream and in delta regions. he approaches his work in this field with a commitment to rigorous research and analysis, as well as passion for discovering new insights and innovative solutions to the complex challenges of the field. Gijs completed his MSc. in Hydraulic Engineering at TU Delft, specializing in river engineering while expanding his knowledge in water management and coastal engineering. Currently he works at Royal HaskoningDHV, where he is active in the fields of river engineering, flood risk and climate adaptation, with a focus on the modelling and interpretation of currents, sediment transport and morphology. He has contributed to projects both in The Netherlands and international, in countries such as Benin, Gabon, India, The Gambia, Rwanda and in the Mekong River Basin. Gijs is passionate about international cooperation and working with individuals from diverse cultural background.
