Engineer Doctor of Roads, Canals and Ports (1965), Graduate in Mathematical Sciences (1963) and in Statistics (1964). Professor of Algebra and Calculus at the UPC (1969), Professor in the areas of Applied Mathematics and Hydraulics at the Higher Technical School of Engineers of Roads, Canals and Ports of Madrid from 1970 to 2009, becoming Professor Emeritus at said center in 2010 Founding Member of the Institute of Environmental Engineering and President of the Spanish Chapter of the International Association for Hydro-Environement Engineering and Research. In his professional activity he has directed the Hydraulic Laboratory of the Center for Studies and Experimentation of Public Works and intervened in the project and / or construction of 300 works in various countries: Dams, Channels, Nuclear and Thermal Power Plants, Ports, Locks, Urbanizations and Industrial Buildings, cooperating with Research Centers from a dozen countries and generating several patents. He has participated in a dozen books and has published nearly a hundred articles. He has received recognitions such as the Becerra and Juan March Foundation awards, the Research Award from the Ministry of Construction of Japan (1998), the Medal of Professional Merit from the College of Civil Engineers, Channels and Ports (1999); The Commendation of the Order of Isabel la Católica (2000) and the appointment of Honorary Member of the International Association of Hydraulic Engineering and Research. His main fields of interest are: differential equations, high-speed flows and shock waves, air-water mixtures, stratified cross-stratified flows in straits, energy dissipation, attractors and instability in iterations, networks, sedimentation in reservoirs, natural catastrophes and security of the infrastructures.
