About
Fellow American Society of Civil Engineers (P.E., F. ASCE), with more than 35 years of experience in the water sector.
Career Type:
Practitioner/Engineers
Organization Type:
Companies and Enterprises
Expertise Fields/Interests:
He has vast experience in stormwater and flood defence projects. For roughly half of his career he worked on the design of stormwater projects.
Major Achievements:
Designed a stormwater vortex drop shaft, which constitutes a unique piece of infrastructure, since it drops runoff surface water (design flow 15 m3/sec) and leads it into Podoniftis Drainage Tunnel under Attica Tallway. Energy is dissipated in the vortex shaft as the stormwater drops a depth of 35 meters down the shaft. The design was verified by thorough model tests in reduced scale in the NTUA hydraulic laboratory. This vortex drop shaft is the biggest ever constructed in Greece.
