Dr Mahmud Ahsan is a professional expert in hydrological and hydraulic engineering and modelling. Mahmud graduated in Civil Engineering and then completed a Master’s degree specialising in computational hydraulics. Mahmud obtained his PhD in computational hydrodynamics with research development in turbulence modelling. He is a full member of the International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR) since 2007. Based in Chester, UK - Mahmud has gained a broad range of experience over 25 years in the water and environmental sectors. His primary focus for sustainable developments through hydraulics, hydrology and water quality would provide cost-effective and eco-friendly solutions. His involvement in the recent project deliverables includes but is not limited to, hydrological and hydraulic modelling, strategic flood risk management, flood mitigation, flood alleviation, drainage strategy design, project appraisal study, breach embankment, surface water management plans, flood forecasting, water quality modelling, wastewater drainage and river morpho-dynamics. His project work uses state-of-the-art computer modelling software with various GIS tools. Mahmud has worked in many national and multi-national organisations during his professional career. Through his experience in multi-disciplinary projects, Mahmud has learned to focus on the client’s needs and the quality control of the deliverables while supporting and directing the project teams.
