K. N. Toosi University of Technology
Assistant Professor
About
Mohammad Javad Ostad Mirza Tehrani obtained his bachelor degree in Civil Engineering and was awarded distinguished student to join Hydraulics master program at the Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic), Tehran, Iran. His research was dedicated to the Flow behavior at annular aerators in tunnels and downstream air concentration variations. He pursued his doctorate at the Laboratory of Hydraulic Constructions (LCH) at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Lausanne, Switzerland. He experimentally studied the influence of abrupt slope changes on flow characteristics over stepped spillways. Mohammad received the distinguished paper award, 16th Iranian Hydraulic Congress and was awarded the Iranian National Elites Foundation postdoctoral fellowship in 2017 to re-join Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic). His postdoc focused on the numerical simulation of flow over stepped spillways and developing the two-phase flow measuring instruments. In September 2020, Mohammad received the Tenure Track Professorship of Iranian National Elites Foundation to join K.N. Toosi University of Technology, Iran as an Assistant Professor to continue his work on hydraulics relevant issues. Since then, he is the president and member of the B.Sc. Course Revision Committee in Civil Engineering Faculty, as well. In June 2021, Mohammad also received the Young Assistant Professor Award, mutually by the Iranian National Elites Foundation and the International cooperation centre of the Iranian Scientific and Technological Department of Presidential Office. He also collaborates with the Water Research Institute, Tehran, Iran since August 2021. Mohammad has received the Research Partnership Grant 2022, granted by the Leading House South Asia and Iran, Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), The State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI), Switzerland, and joined Hydraulic Structures Laboratory, Institute of Civil Engineering and Environmental Science, Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences (OST - Ostschweizer Fachhochschule), Rapperswil-Jona, Switzerland, from July to September 2023, as the guest visiting professor. In 2024, Mohammad will join the Department of Environment, Land and Infrastructure Engineering (DIATI), Politecnico di Torino, Italy to work on the joint project for designing a new structure in order to mitigate urban driftwood and woody debris floods.
