Potable Water Utility
Senior General Engineer
About
Senior General Engineer and PhD degree holder with International experience in a wide range of Water Production, Transmission and Distribution Projects ranging from small rural water distribution systems to large Production, Transmission, and Distribution Facilities. My involvement includes most of Technical, Contractual and Managerial aspects of water Projects such as Negotiation with Funders, Coordination with stakeholders, Pre-evaluation of Projects, Water Demand Assessment, Master Planning, Social and Environmental Impacts, Concept and Detailed Engineering Design for pumping stations and transmission networks, hydraulic modeling, surge analysis, Tendering and Award, Design review, negotiation of variations, assistance during construction, Factory and Site Acceptance Tests, etc. Additionally, I am familiar with the Public Procurement Procedures and requirements of main Funders such as World Bank, Saudi Fund for Development, Agence Française de Développement (AFD), Islamic Development Bank. This aided me in adhering easily to Funders procurement guidelines during prequalification, tendering, tender evaluation, award, and construction phases. Furthermore, I participated in many studies and training courses related to Non-Revenue Water, Public Private Partnership, Sustainability of potable water services, Cost Optimization, Potable Water Tariff Systems, Financial sustainability of Potable Water Utilities. I’m also interested in R&D (Research and Development) activities related to water production, transmission and distribution and in coordinating projects in these fields between universities, industries and end users. My previous research works were mainly related to Solar Desalination, evaporation of water films and droplets, CFD, Numerical fluid mechanics, Heat and Mass Transfer, Phase Change Materials (PCM) Finally, I consider that throughout all stages of any water Project, and regardless of the occupied position, it is necessary to keep the end in mind and have the full picture in order to consider the interests of all impacted or involved parties, as well as environmental and financial sustainability. Water projects are done not only to provide water but mainly to ensure the success of any development program.
