Ho Technical University
About
Ing. John Kwame Tawiah is a trained geological and water resources engineer specializing in hydrogeology. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Geological Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in 2015 and a Master's degree in Water Resources Engineering and Management from the same University in 2018. He has over five years of professional experience in academia and industry. Ing. Tawiah has served as a teaching assistant at the Department of Geological Engineering, KNUST, where he assisted in teaching Hydrology, Hydrogeology, GIS and Remote Sensing, and supervised undergraduates during laboratory and fieldwork. Additionally, he has worked with the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA) as a Water System Manager for small-town water supply schemes in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. Currently, he is a faculty member of the Civil Engineering Department at Ho Technical University, where he lectures undergraduate courses in Geology, Hydrology, Water Resources Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, and Hydraulics. He supervises students who wish to pursue careers in hydrogeology and related fields. His research interests include but are not limited to groundwater management, climate change influence on water resources, and water supply system assessment. He has a versatile skill set which encompasses hydrological/hydrogeological modelling, geospatial analysis, climate downscaling, groundwater exploration/abstraction, evaluation of aquifer potential using pumping test data, and water quality assessment.
