Abstract: With the escalating energy demand in ports necessitated for both port operations and ship energy supply, it is imperative to identify solutions that can adequately meet this demand. This study explores the integration of a Wave Energy Converter into a port breakwater through physical modelling. The investigation assesses the impact of this integration on the stability and functionality of the breakwater, as well as the energy generated. A real-world port serves as the case study. The findings indicate that the device could significantly contribute to the port’s energy needs despite potential impacts on the breakwater’s stability. Moreover, the device could aid ports in adapting to sea level rise induced by climate change by reducing overtopping volumes.
