Abstract: This paper presents the ability of Flow3D software to simulate scour around a bridge pier that is protected against scour with riprap. Unlike single piers where scouring typically occurs upstream, the presence of riprap around the piers induces a scour process downstream. The objective of this study is to investigate how various numerical setups influence the initial scour stage downstream of such a specific structure.
