Abstract: The current study describes the planning and implementation of a procedure for collecting pressure and flow rate data during the occurrence of simulated pipe burst events. A real water distribution network (WDN) was selected, and pipe burst events were simulated by opening an existing hydrant whilst monitoring the flow rate at the inlet of the system and pressure at five specific locations. The collected data will be used to assess the effectiveness of developed pipe burst detection and location techniques.
