Dídia Isabel Cameira Covas is Associate Professor with Habilitation at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Universidade de Lisboa. Graduated in Civil Engineering in the area of Hydraulics at IST, 1995. Obtained the Doctoral Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Imperial College London, 2003. Lecturer of Hydraulics-related courses in master and doctoral programmes at IST. Participation in 20 R&D competitive national/international projects. Development of specialized consultancy in hydraulic transients in pumping and hydropower systems, hydroenergy recovery in water and wastewater systems and urban water infrastructure asset management. Over 300 publications. Main research areas: hydraulic transients, leak detection, energy efficiency, energy recovery, asset management. Member of the IAHR Transient Flows Working Group. Associate Editor of the Urban Water Journal.
