Abstract: This paper evaluates the feasibility and performance of a new wave energy converter, the CECO–Converter of Wave Kinetic Energy, which aims at converting the kinetic and potential energy of ocean waves in electrical energy. The behavior of the device is analyzed for different wave conditions and operation modes (power take-off damping levels and inclination angles). The relative capture widths estimated in this preliminary study are relatively high and proved that this new wave energy converter is promising, thus justifying further optimization studies.
