Laboratory and Field LSPIV Measurements of Flow Velocities Using Fudaa-LSPIV, a Free User-Friendly Software

Abstract: The Large-Scale Particle Image Velocimetry (LSPIV) technique allows the measurement of surface flow velocities and discharge computation by analysis of image sequences. EDF and Irstea have developed and freely distributed the FUDAA-LSPIV software. Using a user friendly interface, the software allows the orthorectification of a series of pictures and then to calculate flow velocities. Two application examples of FUDAA-LSPIV to river engineering studies, in the laboratory and in the field, are presented to demonstrate the efficiency and versatility of the tool.
