About
The Universidad Nacional de Colombia is an autonomous independent institution of higher learning linked to the Ministry of National Education, with a special and defined regime as a National and Public University. Our goal, with the support of the State, is the development of professional education and research on a par with programs in the sciences and arts, in order to achieve excellence. In accordance with the Constitution and the Law, the National University of Colombia has a special regime enshrined in the Decree - Law 1210 of 1993, which confers the university academic autonomy to decide independently which programs of study we will offer, as well as which research areas to pursue. Our university fulfils non-administrative functions aimed at promoting, on behalf of the State and with its support, the development of higher education up to its highest levels; encouraging access to it and stimulating teaching, research, the sciences, and artistic creation. In order to fulfil the mission of contributing to the identity of the nation in its diversity, to date, our university is comprised of nine different sites across Colombia.
